Jamify: Blinkist meets Duolingo meets Suno.

Adults want to learn from everything, but text summaries are forgettable and audiobooks take too long. Jamify turns books, movies, podcasts, and news into catchy song albums with quizzes, streaks, and games. Listen, play, remember.

Domain: jamify.cc. Pre-launch. Currently in active engineering.

Section 01

The problem

Busy professionals (25-45) buy nonfiction but never finish. They watch movies but forget the themes. They listen to podcasts but can't recall the ideas a week later. The market has answers for books only: Blinkist (41M users, $7.94/mo) and Headway (50M users, $7.50/mo) deliver text summaries. But text summaries are forgettable.

Nobody is turning movies, podcasts, news, documentaries, talks, and articles into a format that sticks. 90% of people experience involuntary musical imagery weekly. Songs persist in memory without the app open. A chorus replays in your head during a meeting. A text summary does not.

The ICP is the curious professional who wants to learn from everything but has 20 minutes, not 2 hours. They want something that is genuinely fun (Duolingo energy), covers all content types (not just books), and creates recall that lasts past the session.

Section 02

What Downshift is building

A consumer learning app across web and mobile. Each source (book, movie, podcast, article) becomes an album of 6-7 catchy song "jams" with synced lyrics, quizzes, and game modes.

Source Albums

Any book, movie, podcast, or article becomes a 6-7 jam album. Jam 1 is the free single (the big idea). Jams 2-7 are premium deep dives. 15-20 minutes of total listening per source.

AI Song Generation

Songs generated via Mureka, ACE-Step, and Suno at $0.003-0.05 per jam. Near-zero COGS compared to $50-200/title for human narration at competitors.

Synced Lyrics + Karaoke

Every jam plays with time-synced lyrics. Karaoke mode highlights words in real time. Key idea cards appear between verses.

Quiz Engine

3 questions after each jam. Immediate feedback, spaced repetition logic. 70%+ target completion rate.

4 Game Modes

Fill the Lyric, Name That Jam, Tempo Challenge, and Idea Match. No competitor has music-based learning games.

Streaks + XP + Levels

Duolingo-style gamification. Daily streaks, experience points, level progression. Designed for 40%+ weekly streak maintenance.

Song of the Day

Daily curated jam from any source type. The free hook that drives daily opens. Rotates across books, movies, news, and podcasts.

Social Sharing (TikTok-native)

Every jam generates a 15-30s clip optimized for TikTok, Reels, and Shorts. Songs are inherently viral. 84% of Billboard Global 200 went viral on TikTok first.

Mobile App (iOS + Android)

Expo/React Native with CarPlay, Siri Shortcuts, and home-screen widgets. Native Swift modules for audio playback. Mobile-first, audio-first.

Section 03

The architecture

Full-stack monorepo with web, mobile, and API. 60-70% of the infrastructure is shared with JamWise (Downshift's K-8 music education product), accelerating the build.

Core stack

  • Fastify 5 + Zod validation (API)
  • React Router 7 SSR + TanStack Query (web)
  • Expo 53 + React Native (mobile)
  • PostgreSQL 16 + Drizzle ORM
  • BullMQ + Redis (background jobs)
  • Shadcn/Tailwind (UI)

AI surface

  • Mureka, ACE-Step, Suno (music generation)
  • GPT Image 1.5, Nano Banana Pro (album art)
  • Claude + OpenAI (content extraction + quiz generation)
  • FairStack (unified AI routing)
  • $0.003-0.05 per jam (near-zero COGS)

Mobile-native features

  • CarPlay integration (Swift native module)
  • Siri Shortcuts
  • Home-screen widgets
  • react-native-track-player (audio)
  • Offline downloads (premium)

Infrastructure

  • Railway (API + web)

Section 05

What's in flight

Jamify is in active engineering, building toward a public launch. The product definition phase is complete with 11 PRDs covering every core feature: source albums, audio player, quiz engine, gamification, song generation pipeline, social sharing, onboarding, home screen, browse/explore, paywall, and games.

The competitive moat is "anything to songs" as an unclaimed category. Blinkist does books only. Deepstash does text only. Nobody else is turning movies, podcasts, and news into songs. Combined with near-zero generation costs ($0.003-0.05/jam vs $50-200/title for human narration), Jamify can price competitively while maintaining healthy margins.

Infrastructure shares 60-70% with JamWise (Downshift's K-8 music education product), which is already live in production. The shared foundation means Jamify ships faster without starting from scratch.
